Advocacy and People’s Voice

The views, experiences and opinions of the young people and adults we support are very important to us. We are committed to ensuring that every person has meaningful opportunities to express their views, make choices and influence the support they receive.

Our ‘People’s Rights and Having a Say’ Policy underpins this commitment and provides guidance on how we listen to, value and respond to the voices of those we support.

We advocate on behalf of the people we support and ensure that individuals can access appropriate independent advocacy whenever needed. This helps to promote choice, participation and inclusion, ensuring that people’s wishes, aspirations, concerns and rights are understood, respected and reflected in decisions that affect their lives. Advocacy services also provide an additional level of independent scrutiny and support, helping people to raise concerns or seek representation where required.

We hold People’s Voice Forums across our services, providing regular opportunities for the individuals we support to share their views, contribute ideas, discuss issues that are important to them and influence how services are developed and delivered. Feedback gathered through these forums helps to shape individual plans, service improvements and ensures that the voices of the people we support remain at the heart of decision-making.
