Staff at The Paddocks
The Paddocks has a staff team comprising a Registered Manager, a Deputy Manager, Team Leaders and Support Workers, working closely with a dedicated clinical team (see Therapeutic Services).Â
Recruitment and training: The recruitment process at Hesley Group is rigorous. Before joining us at The Paddocks, people’s employment histories are checked in detail, references taken up and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks carried out.
Our colleagues are carefully recruited, trained and supported to provide safe, consistent and person-centred care. Each team works closely with clinical colleagues so that support is informed by each young person’s communication, sensory, emotional wellbeing and behavioural support needs.
Colleagues complete a structured induction and ongoing learning programme, including role-specific training, coaching, mentoring and professional development. Managers also access leadership and management development to support effective practice.
Health
All the young people we support at The Paddocks have access to a wide range of community health services, including:
• General Practitioner
• Dentist
• Chiropodist
• Optician
Each young person has a medical assessment when they come to The Paddocks, followed by annual check-ups carried out by the local GP. Each young person also has a Health Action Plan. Additional and/or specialist support can be accessed as required, for example, in relation to epilepsy or specific nutritional needs.
The young people we support are encouraged to lead a balanced lifestyle and are assisted in choosing and preparing healthy, nutritious meals and in taking regular exercise.
