Pupil/Sports Premium & COVID Catch-up funding

Ivy Lane pupil premium imagePupil Premium
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Department for Education to close the attainment gap between pupils from low income families and their peers. It is allocated to schools with pupils on roll who are known to have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any time in the last six years, are Children Looked After (in the care of the Local Authority) or who have a parent serving in the Armed Services.

Ivy Lane School is committed to spending it strategically for the benefit of eligible students. Once a payment is received, the student’s needs are assessed and an action plan is generated for how that expenditure can be used to raise attainment within the school year. This planning is then anonymised and made public via the school website.

Sports Premium
The PE and Sport Premium Grant provides additional funding to schools to make sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer, the associated benefits of PE and Sport reach beyond general physical wellbeing and impact on both social and emotional health. We will use the sport premium to help develop our PE and sport provision for all pupils by increasing opportunities within and outside of Ivy Lane School, provide clubs for pupils at lunchtimes and after school, create links which are sustainable with sporting organisations within the local area, this in turn will hopefully develop pupil progress within PE and Sport lessons.

Covid Catch-Up
In June 2020 the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.

This funding is for specific activities to support our students’ education recovery in line with the curriculum expectations and will be used for specific activities which will help pupils catch up on missed learning.

Updates on allocation of above funds
As a new school we have yet to receive any funding under the above criteria. Once received we will specify here how funding is deployed on a termly basis.
