Trainee Behaviour Therapist at Low Laithes

I am new to the role of Trainee Behaviour Therapist but have worked within the Hesley Group for nearly four years altogether. I started out as a support worker at Low Laithes, this was my first experience of working in a learning disability setting and my first hands-on experience of working in direct care. This role gave me a keen interest in supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge and a passion for supporting such individuals to have a good quality of life. I left to gain experience in adult mental health but soon returned as a Quality Analyst, a role which focused on the collation and analysis of data surrounding incidents of challenging behaviour.

I have always had an interest in becoming a Trainee Behaviour Therapist since initially working at Low Laithes so when the opportunity came up I jumped at it. I have a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Health Psychology which have given me a continued interest in factors that affect quality of life and in supporting individuals to change their adverse health-related behaviours. Outside of work I enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors walking, I love the sea and find being outside in nature really relaxing. I’m also very creative and crafty and enjoy knitting and sewing in my spare time. At the minute my future aspirations are to complete my initial training and get as much experience in the role as I can and then consider my further development moving forward.
