Dr Ian Watkiss
Principal Clinical Psychologist at Hesley Village

I have been working at Hesley Village since October 2015 as the Principal Clinical Psychologist. My role primarily involves conducting psychology assessments, clinical formulation of people’s difficulties, clinical risk assessment, Functional Behavioural Assessments, positive behavioural support planning and psychological interventions. I also consult on autism, mental capacity and mental health act queries. I very much enjoy my current role as the work is very rewarding.

I graduated from the Coventry University in 2005 with a 1st Class Hons BSc in Psychology and I am HCPC registered. I have worked with people with a learning disability since 2006 and completed my clinical psychology Doctorate with the University of Sheffield. I have worked in the NHS Sheffield learning disability community team from 2009 – 2013, as well as working in what is now called the NHS Sheffield Adult Autism and Neurodevelopmental Service (SAANS) from 2011 – 2012. Prior to working for Hesley Group, I worked in low secure forensic settings, working with people with personality disorders and offending behaviours. I have experience in working with people using CBT, CAT and schema therapy.

I am very much committed to helping Hesley maintain their excellent clinical input across the MDT and make sure that the people living here benefit from good mental health and a high quality of life.
