What is Clinical Psychology?
Clinical psychology is the application of psychological theory and research to improving quality of life and psychological wellbeing. In services for people with disabilities, clinical psychologists work in partnership with service users, families and other informal carers, and paid support staff, to achieve these goals.
Who are we?
The Hesley Group’s clinical psychology service comprises a team of qualified clinical psychologists with substantial experience and expertise in various aspects of work with people with severe intellectual disabilities and autism and their carers.
What do we do?
Our clinical psychologists work closely with other colleagues from support staff, education, and other clinical professions in our multidisciplinary teams. Members of our team have specific interests and expertise in intervention for severely challenging behaviours, service-wide initiatives to improve quality of life, intensive interaction approaches, cognitive-behavioural and other psychological interventions for mental health difficulties in people with autism, and staff support.
