Hesley Group Policies Procedures and Guidance

All Hesley Group Policies procedures and practice guidance support the following underlying principles:

Best Interests: All decisions made in relation to anyone using Hesley Group services are made in a way that is demonstrably in the person’s best interests. In the case of a person aged 16 and above this is formalised by the application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its Code of Practice

Assessment support planning and review: Services will be provided on the basis of assessment, planning and review that puts the person at the centre of the process.

Equality: Everyone receiving a service from the Hesley Group will receive services which take account of their race, culture, language, disability, sexuality and religion.

Valuing relationships and family: People have the right, whenever possible, to have regular contact and involvement with family and friends, form relationships with others.

Partnership: In promoting this right, services will be provided wherever in partnership with parents of children, relatives and other significant people in people’s lives and with any other agencies needed to assist and provide support, eg advocacy.

Listening and taking action: We will promote a listening culture for all children young people and adults, which encourages them to express their views, wishes and feelings. We will consult adult using Hesley Group services about their wishes and feelings. We will then do all we can to ensure their views are taken into account when decisions are made about them.

Quality services: Hesley Group are committed to delivering services that are be provided by skilled people, committed to meeting people’s. Staff will promote children young people and adults’ educational, physical, emotional, social and psychological development in an environment where the individual feels safe, positive and encouraged.

Keeping people informed: Everyone using Hesley Group services will be provided with a range of accessible information about our services and include them in planning for the future.

Promoting independence: We will help everyone using Hesley Group services to be as independent and to take as full and active a part in everyday life as possible.

Safeguarding Children and Adults: All Hesley Group policies and procedures are aimed at providing good quality, safe and effective support. We have robust reporting procedures for the reporting of allegation or suspicions of abuse or poor practice and following these through. We also understand that, on occasions, it will be necessary for limits to be placed on the actions of some of the people using Hesley Group services for their personal welfare or to protect them or others from injury or harm. Interventions used in these circumstances will be the least restrictive and appropriate to the individual’s health and wellbeing.

Complaints or concerns: Where anyone using a Hesley Group service, or others on their behalf, are dissatisfied, we will take steps to resolve their dissatisfaction and provide opportunities for them to complain and for their concerns or complaint to be thoroughly investigated.

Respecting privacy: Every person that uses Hesley Group services will be treated with respect and afforded privacy.

After previously postponing due to bad weather, we finally managed to hold our Autism Awareness Athletics Event last Thursday (3rd May) at the Doncaster Athletics Club. A range of adapted activities including javelin, hurdles, the long jump and a penalty shoot out together with fun and engaging sensory activities ensured there were many smiling faces to be seen.
To coincide with World Autism Awareness Day last month we launched our official Hesley Group social media pages. The pages feature regular updates including service developments, autism facts, photos of our services and facilities, job opportunities and videos.
Hesley Group are once again proud to be headline sponsor for the Autism Show which takes place at the ExCel in London from 15-16 June 2012. The Autism Show is the national event for autism, dedicated to the two million people in the UK who live and work with autism on a daily basis.
